In order for beta fish to breed must a bubble nest be formed first?

My male beta fish only blows bubbles that pop. He may be older since he has long fins and not interested in mating. I've put the femle is a seperate place in his tank so he can see her and stuff. Why won't he form a bubble nest?In order for beta fish to breed must a bubble nest be formed first?
Some bettas don't form a bubblenest until the female is actually with him

Also, you need to condition them for at least 2 weeks, before actually atempting to mate them with havy protein food

Here is an article for you to read up on

Hope that helps

Good luck

They will only build a bubble nest when they are very content(good water conditions, good food) I had a male a few years ago that was constantly building bubble nests, but the one I have now rarely does.In order for beta fish to breed must a bubble nest be formed first?
You need to put floating plants so the bubbles will hold together and wont pop.(maybe he will took interest)
