I keep getting a pop up bubble that says my IP address is conflicting with another system on my network......

And my internet temporarily goes down. Does anybody know why? Can I fix this myself?I keep getting a pop up bubble that says my IP address is conflicting with another system on my network......
Your "internet" goes down because the data may be sent to the other computer on the network with the same address. Try to renew your IP address. To do this (assuming you are using MS Windows)

1) Select Start-%26gt;Run

2) Type "cmd" in the box (without the quotes)

3) Select Ok

4) Type "ipconfig /release" (without the quotes) and hit "enter" on your keyboard in the box that pops up - this will "release" your current IP address or let everyone know its up for grabs again

5) Type "ipconfig /renew" (without the quotes) and hit "enter" on your keyboard - this will get you a new ip address

This will only work if your IP is not manually entered. If you are still having problems let me know
Yes you can fix it yourself, right click the two or single screen icon's in the bottom right hand corner click on properties on there you'll see a list scroll down until you find Internet protocol(TCP/IP) click on the properties tab make sure that your system is set for Obtain an IP address automatically. also known as DHCP as well obtain DNS automatically. The other computer might have a static ip . But if all else fails then you should give Networkmagic.com a try they have a trail version or you can buy it I did and it worksI keep getting a pop up bubble that says my IP address is conflicting with another system on my network......
this happended on my home network because of static address, i had three comps with static address, this was not a problem untill i turned on my network printer that had a permanant address, that had been reasigned to my comp by the router. so either give each comp a permant ip or turn on the printer before the computers!
The same thing happened to me last week. My wireless connection kept going down, but would work again after a few minutes. I don't know how to explain it, but it stopped happening after I restarted my router. Check your modem and/or router, restart them, if it keeps happening try calling your internet service provider for adviceI keep getting a pop up bubble that says my IP address is conflicting with another system on my network......
Conflicting? Hmm..

Everyone gets their own IP address when you log on the net.

Well let me correct myself, almost everyone gets their own. Companies like AOL like to share them with other users.

But since you said network, then i assume you are on a network.

The network should give out different IP's to all the users if it is setup the proper way. You net going down for a bit is because someone else is on that same IP and using it at the same time. Or they are on your network and using too much bandwitdth, causing you to go down.

If you are using a wireless connection , someone may be on it if it is not secured.

If you are on a newtowrk, best way to fix is to speak with the person that runs it.

If you are on your wireless connection , make it secured.
In dialup and most broadband connections u have dynamic ip addresses. It changes in every session. Disconnect from net and try again after a few minutes. Maybe then, u will be able 2 login without problem.
you may have adware, or a virus go to norton internet security

rktavi should get 10 pts. I was having the same problem until I secured the network. I have not had a repeat of the problem.
are both machines set to obtain an address automatically? static?
It caused by others have put your IP address in his/her computer.
