These are the so called 'balloon' popups.



To disable them, copy the following into notepad...



Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00



[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\鈥?ntVersion\Explorer\Advanced]

"EnableBalloonTips"=dword:00000000



...and save the file as disableballoons.reg

Double-click on that disableballoons.reg, restart your computer and no more balloons! :O)
To disable 'Clean your desktop...': Right-click desktop -%26gt; Properties -%26gt; Desktop tab -%26gt; Uncheck the 'Run Desktop clean up wizard every 60 days' box and apply changes.



To Disable the tooltips: You'll need to edit the registry... Do not attempt this unless you are 1000% sure you know what you are doing...



To disable balloon tips in the notification area (Right side of the task bar):

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER \Software \Microsoft \Windows \CurrentVersion \Explorer \Advanced]

EnableBalloonTips = 0



To disable "Show popup description for folder and desktop items" (Folder Options):

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER \Software \Microsoft \Windows \CurrentVersion \Explorer \Advanced]

ShowInfoTip = 0



To disable tooltip for folders:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER \Software \Microsoft \Windows \CurrentVersion \Explorer \Advanced]

To disable tooltips for the start button:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER \Software \Microsoft \Windows \CurrentVersion \Explorer \Advanced]

StartButtonBalloonTip = 0



To disable tooltips for the start menu:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER \Software \Microsoft \Windows \CurrentVersion \Policies \Explorer]

NoSMBalloonTip = 1



...there are many tweeks that can be done by editing the registry, but as stated before. NEVER mess with the registry unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing.
