My male Gourami is trying to build a bubblenest in my tank. The only problem is that the filter is making all his bubbles pop and break apart. I was wondering whether i should turn off the filter and see if he can get a start, although i also have four rummy-nose tetras in my tank- will it affect the other fish?Male Gourami is trying to build bubble-nest?
Gouramis build bubble nests out of instinct-- they have no actual need to unless they mate. Letting the filter break up the nest isn't a problem at all. He'll just keep trying, never getting discouraged. Don't worry about it. If you really want to see his nest, give him a bunch of floating plants to secure it in.Male Gourami is trying to build bubble-nest?
Don't turn off the filter.
You can add rocks or plants in front of the filter flow, to minimize its force. Most new brands also have a filter control knob.

You shouldn't turn off the filter, that will cause the tank to become cloudy and eventually dirty. If you seriously would like your Gourami to nest and possably have babies, I would suggest getting a divider for your tank that would keep him and his mate on the opposite side from the filter, or place them in a breeding tank.
Good luck!
awwww, he is wanting to be pappy, but only while breeding, otherwise he'll kill the other fish. Do not turn the filter off or they will all die. Check your local pet store for alternative tanks or tank ideas.
