There are other ways of signaling that you don't want to be kissed. Usually, girls undestand the hints very well.
It is possible that she's quite annyoying and doesn't understand the hints. Just tell her that you don't want kisses. This way, you are not stooping to her level, if, in fact, she doesn't get the hints.

Ordinarily, I would have said no; however, since she laughed about it, it's okay. You mention that you were complimented for things that you don't deserve to be complimented on. Yes, that might be a good idea. However there are two possible outcomes you need to be careful of. If you POP the gum in an enclosed space as she might mistake the pop of the gum for a gunshot and then you might be accused of attempted murder! The second outcome is that she might see gum popping as a sign of affection, because any attention is better than no attention from the object of her desire and you may recieve further unwanted attention from her.
