Yes I think we are currently watching a government bubble forming.



Fed Gov spending is about 26% of our GDP. During the 30's it was 19% and historically it has been about 20%.



When it pops, watch out. There will be riots. The unfunded commitments to the entitlement system is unsustainable. The entitlement system is unsustainable. When Social Security was started the retirement age was 65 and the average life expectancy was 63. The average person who got benefits got them for 2 years while 16 were paying into it while 1 was getting benefits. Now the averages are about 17 years for one getting benefits and there are 3 paying into it while 1 is getting benefits.



It is clearly broken.



It can be fixed, but people won't like it. I am for strict limits on receiving benefits. I think you should be able to get your contributions back + a reasonable rate of return on top of inflation adjustments. From there it should be strictly for those who need it.
No. It's the Tea Party members that go beyond that extreme.



The thing I'm worried about is not reduction of government power, but ERADICATION of it. You see, talking heads like Glenn Beck speak out against Obama and are very quick to call him a socialist, all because of moderate government interference. Glenn Beck is an idiot, and anyone who listens to that nutcase probably doesn't understand the importance of government interference.

Democratic - yes we are in necessary government bubble until the private sector rebounds. There should be a smooth transition with no "pop". A double dip recession might cause the "pop" you refer to because we just don't have the money to get out of another recession.

There is no bubble that hasn't existed from the beginning of the country when we were rural and so very much smaller.



You watch to much fox. The only thing that is MASSIVE is the paranoia they create.



It's easy to be afraid. Much harder to see the possibilities and be optimistic.
I'm a independent conservative and have voted 60% republican/40 % democrat. Although many people dislike George Soros, he is a financial genius. He, along with many, have said the increasing deficit is the next big bubble. So, yes government is a massive bubble waiting to pop.
It's popping now. Everything the government is involved in is failing and government is trying to hold it together with money we don't have. They're desperate.
